Restrain "most played"/"most liked" to last x number of days

I use mpd playlists as an easy way to rsync music to my phone. However, my music tastes will change from time to time. I see in my most played playlist some songs but from a while ago. It might be cool to restrict to the most played to the last x days.

Would this be complicated to implement? I am a Ruby programmer, but am interested in learning about Go, so I might be able to help.
