Many of the quotes in the app are not attributable to the Buddha. From my brief investigation, looking at about 20 quotes, I found that here is a mixture of fake quotes, quotes from recent Buddhist teachers, and quotes from non-Buddhist figures—all of which are all attributed to the Buddha by the app.

I don't know where you sourced the quotes from, but it would be good to vet the authenticity of the quotes, and properly attribute the quotes.

The content of your app is your choice, but given it seems to want to represent the words of the Buddha, I question the inclusions of fake quotes and quotes from non-Buddhist figures.

It is common practice when quoting the Buddha to include the scripture reference. For example, <string name='quote_11' id='320'>All experiences are preceded by mind, having mind as their master, created by mind</string> would include something like "Dhp 1".

You have put together a very attractive FOSS application, but the core content needs some more attention.

Hey, I've been revisiting this app after a few years. We've been getting the quotes from https://www.realbuddhaquotes.com. Could you suggest any sources? It does mean a lot to me to have them genuine but it's really hard to verify it given the amount of quotes attributed to wrong people online.

The quotes from https://www.realbuddhaquotes.com do seemed to be sourced legitimately - it may just be the case that I need to start anew and only use quotes that are sourced from here, perhaps providing sources in Buddha Quotes itself.

https://www.realbuddhaquotes.com is a fine source to get quotes. The sister site https://fakebuddhaquotes.com/ is a useful tool for learning about fake quotes.

Something like https://r.readingfaithfully.org might be a tool to use to find new quotes.

Buddhist Wisdom Verses from https://www.ancient-buddhist-texts.net/index.htm might be another fruitful resource.

Another source of quotes might be the study guides at www.dhammatalks.org.

Pithy verses can be readily found in the Udana, Itivuttaka, and Dhammapada.

Thanks @BBBalls! I've overhauled the quotes and sourced each one with a button to see the source. This will get developed over time with more texts and sources.
