Add try..except blocks to data growth scripts

Low Priority.

responses sometimes get a response via network hiccups or other reasons and since these scripts run for long periods of time, we should wrap the requests in try....except blocks while passing on some errors and track how many errors are occurring and failing only if errors persist for a certain amount of time.
