The data we are collecting is the first of its kind. But as you’ve seen, our citizen reports are collecting data using a rudimentary form. We’d like to see a better way for everyday citizens and data scientists to submit their own observations and reports. While keeping the integrity of this form (no fields should be removed), we’d like to see a mobile/desktop friendly solution that has UX considered for our volunteers.
This runs on JotForm, which has location and other widgets. Suggestions of alternative platforms are welcome! We're also open to rolling our own. However, the most important thing is to make this form responsive, since most people will be using it on their phones.
Integrating autocomplete in the address fields would be an important goal as well, to standardize data.
In addition, building a dedicated database for the new entries (especially picture uploads, etc.) instead of saving them on Jotform's servers; but this would probably be lower priority than the other tasks.
