CAD-CAM for post-processing and milling with Candle. #651
Comments
FreeCAD is an open-source parametric CAD/CAM package. I use it exclusively for all my 3D CAD needs, and I have successfully used it for a couple of milling jobs in the past. I don't have all that much experience with the CAM functionality though, since I mostly do PCB milling on my machine which requires a totally different CAM workflow. |
Thanks for your reply, I'll get on it to see what FreeCAD is capable of. |
Thank you very much Ondras12345, last night I started studying Inkscape, which is also free, and following a tutorial I got this file for Candle directly. At the moment it seems to be a deep engraving. |
Inkscape is probably good enough for these sorts of "2.5D" / engraving jobs. I assumed you wanted to machine metal parts or something like that, which is why I suggested FreeCAD. However, it would be close to impossible to engrave an image like this with FreeCAD. |
Hi everyone, do you know of any CAD-CAM for post-processing and milling with Candle that is free and not one of those one-month trials that expires, or one that is absolutely free but then does not post-process if you do not buy the program...
If you know of any, either on Github or outside of Gitbub, please share it.
Thanks in advance.
