This does not affect who can log in or anything related to administration. This was needed to allow on outside contributor to use his personal repositories with my drone instance.

  • Still using ansible inventory from in a private repo
  • No more auto configuration of repos/secrets/cron
  • Just deployment configuration for drone ci server itself

Saving snapshot of last drone version with the goal of automating its configurtaion. Builds are starting to take forever and it kind of defeats the purpose of having a nice UI to upload all secrets and configure cron etc.. Now that I have my servers backed up nightly I am not worried about data loss. Even if data loss were to occur, it takes a couple minutes at most to activate a repo, upload a couple secrets, and set a fancy cron job using the drone-cli tool.

Because of this, I've decided it's not worth the time to maintain a versioned copy of the drone inventory either, as it's more secure to just use the secrets storage and not have an encrypted copy floating around even in a private repo, just welcoming anyone who has access to brute force
