Because we're designers and the current docs are offensive to the eyes plain. Fewer words, more demonstration. Examples that show the full range of what's possible.

It appears to me that the template codes available are tailored to making css-like output. Eg. it doesn't appear to be possible to output a php file with a declaration of all available icons (e.g. for CMS-like functions where you may want to let the end user select an icon among the available ones). Though that is technically more of a feature request than lack of documentation. And implementing this myself by iterating the vectors input directory should be fairly simple.
