How to handle google api key on vcs?

I think the api is set up correctly but I can’t seem to get it to work with the standard emulator – some googling indicates that the genymotion emulator may be the ticket – to the batcave! – didn’t work

project settings -> modules (add module from source), click MeatUp module, add module source in dependencies tab
