Parsing XML removed comments previously, this now includes comments in the tree so that outputted XML documents include the input data's comments.

the tree so that outputted XML documents include the input data's
comments.
This was a combination of a few different pull requests to get to the functionality that I needed, along with adding the explicit support for comments that I needed on top. Will add the PR's or forks this was based onto a subsequent comment.
