On the main menu, if you press F11 to make it fullscreen (it works fine) but then go into the options and the button for fullscreen isn't checked and if you click it... it blacks out the screen.

Which OS? Possibly a duplicate of #239

I can't really understand what's happening there. Bot ways of activating use the same method

Windows 7 64bit

EDIT: My bad Zorro did mention it happened to him as well. Little new to all this, will try learn to read properly.

I'm still having my issue with mouse de-sync on mac os x lion

I know that's my issues , that's why I mentioned it. Anyway if it's fixed close this issue and continue my bug fix on #239 :)
