Reproduction:

Upon reconnecting to server without closing the window as white box take up a portion of the chat window and stretches it of the screen. Can be fixed by closing/opening the window.

The white box you're experiencing is a side-affect of TGUI being actually stupid. And we've done our best to fix this but all I can recommend is reconnecting or clicking "Refresh TGUI" under the Help tab at the top of the window, AND or you click the white box into focus, and Alt + F4 the window which usually works if it's annoying you.
