Screen rolling on direct video #5
Comments
Thank you for your report. |
Thank you for your reply! Ah, I apologize for not using the right word probably, as I think it is a vertical synchronization issue, i.e the rolling seems to be strictly vertical. Here are two little movies I just took of Wonder Boy anyway, the second one is a tentative slomo — I'm sorry for the quality, but my phone is quite old. https://imgur.com/a/MARqzUL Best regards. |
Thanks for the video. I'm sure what's going on. |
Ah, thank you a lot! I'm so glad it may not be just my hardware. As an added report, if it may help narrow it down: Gyruss didn't have the issue in the March 1st release, but exhibits the vertical jerkiness issue on my monitor in the newly released March 15th one. |
To add a little more info, I have isolated the issue to my monitor: it seems it can't calibrate its sync to refresh rates beyond 60.2Hz anymore (It is getting old), and the current Sega System 1.rbf outputs 61 Hz. This monitor of mine issue is corroborated my Gyruss talk above: the March 1st release had an improper 59.6Hz output, which worked well with my monitor, while the newest March 15th one got the proper 60.6Hz output, which glitches here. Anyway, I am really hoping that 60.0952Hz is the proper refresh rate for Sega System 1, as that would mean I could eventually enjoy them ;) |
Seeing you are having a little time, I allow myself this little push to adjust the frequency of the game to 60.1hz instead of 61 ;D Amazing release on that Penguin-kun wars, by the way! |
Hello and thank you for your awesome work.
I am using a Barco monitor, plugged through a VGA to SCART cable, and in all the Sega System 1 games, I am experiencing a neverending rolling screen effect.
Usually, the monitor learns to calibrate itself, but in this case it won't, even after leaving it on for a couple of hours.
I also experienced this issue in Motos and Mappy, Green Beret and Gaplus, but no such issue in Solomon's Key or Ninja-kun. I hesitate to spam reports, because it would probably not be smart, but also because I am unsure the issue isn't just an oddity of my monitor with some specfic hz refresh rates.
Thank you for your consideration and best wishes!
