Running WWR user script in plugin on edge to edge walls breaks model #668
Comments
@DavidGoldwasser this looks bad, I don't understand what you mean by 'edge to edge walls' though? How is this different than any other wall? |
Also I only see one image |
Sorry, I was being lazy, the left half of the building is the before, and the right half is the after (on a single image). @macumber these windows go right to the edge of the base surface, vs. being inset slightly. If someone tried to draw this in OpenStudio this way it would have been a band of three base surfaces, vs. a window. But when importing from IDF it is a window. |
@DavidGoldwasser ok, I understand now, the issue was windows going all the way to the edge.. that will probably cause other problems too |
@DavidGoldwasser is this still valid? |
@DavidGoldwasser is this still valid? it is listed as needed for 1.7.0 |
@DavidGoldwasser assigned to you to better document or close |
@macumber yep, Steve (the scale figure) says it is still valid, Just import the medium office reference building and run the WWR user script with the default values. When you re-open the model you have three sub surfaces missing their base surfaces. (FYI - I only ran WWR on the one facade, it would cause issues anywhere when original windows were as wide as the base surface. You could say it is bad practice for base model, but it is shipping this way as reference buildling. @asparke2 are you changing the geometry for your buildings or using it as is? |
This issue has been moved to the OpenStudio Sketchup Repository - openstudiocoalition/openstudio-sketchup-plugin#35 |
I hit this trying to use WWR on reference building geometry. The entire walls disappear, and then you get errors when you re-open it.. I think this is plugin specific and wouldn't happen when WWR is used as a measure outside of SketchUp. On attached images you can see before on left and after on right.
