The day_night option of the preprocessor is currently only considered for AATSR/ATSR-2, where it can extract only the day or night parts of the orbit without the user having to find them.
Should that be done more generally? For the granule products (MODIS, SLSTR), the difference is quite minimal but this seems useful for the geostationary sensors. It is, though, a non-trivial thing to write.
