Advice on fork

As a fellow fontdev of useful fonts (UnifontEX, more pan-Unicode per-file than GNU Unifont), I am glad to know the extension is open-source so I could theoretically make a fork of it that replaces ALL page fonts in Chrome with it for better Unicode support. I'm wondering what files I would have to change if I did this. My main browser is Firefox to specifically allow for font overriding without an extension, something Chrome does not allow. Also is there a size limit, because the TrueType, uncompressed, is ~13MiB, but in DEFLATE (Zip, WOFF1) is ~3MiB.
