In order to develop a Map of Industrial Areas, you need to download
a layer with information about buildings and industrial areas like
Urban Areas from Urban Atlas source. To specify a buffer for a given
industrial object, use the tool provided in QGIS – Geoprocessing Tool

  • Buffer. The algorithm calculates the given buffer and other
parameters that are included in the analysis process. We specify the
scope of the output file. The map allows us to see places where, for
example, residential buildings should not be located.

This is typically topic covered by national law. But we should be able to fulfill this task using 2 processes in row:

  1. Vector to raster conversion
  2. reclassification as in task Example2: Analysis of the arable lands #2 we identify the industrial areas
  3. buffer as in task Example 6: acoustic maps #6 where we let calculate some buffer around the area

Urbanatlas data can be downloaded from https://land.copernicus.eu/local/urban-atlas/urban-atlas-2012?tab=download but there is also public WMS service http://image.discomap.eea.europa.eu/arcgis/services/DownloadLayers/UA_UrbanAtlas_2012_DL/MapServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMS
