While consolidating the three KP PDF examples onto one page, and trying out various line widths on them, I saw some rather interesting hyphenation, including vow-el and presen-t. This is most likely in the hyphenation package Text::KnuthPlass is using (should be Text::Hyphen), but I want it logged here so I don't overlook it in further work. Also, I think splitting a word should have a minimum 2 character head fragment and minimum 3 character tail fragment, which doesn't seem to be obeyed.
Add: vow-el is listed in the dictionary as the correct word split point, but Text::Hyphen should be using a minimum of three for the tail end, shouldn't it? "present" should not be split at all, as it can be pronounced (and thus split) at least two different ways: pre-sent and pres-ent. "May I pre-sent to you Miss Lili von Shtupp, to whom I gave a nice pres-ent."
