Context

Part of #49

To find out what data is required, we should work backward from studies of police and co-response effectiveness that we think are thorough.

This task

Find and comment on this issue:

  • 5 cities that have had co-response models
  • 5 cities that have had alternative response models
  • 5 cities whose response, co-response, or alternative response have been meaningfully studied
    • the idea is to compare traditional policing, co-response, and alternative response
    • these may be the same cities from the other steps, or different
  • any relevant studies or information about analyzing police response

Here's a cheat sheet for how to format stuff in GitHub: https://docs.github.com/en/get-started/writing-on-github/getting-started-with-writing-and-formatting-on-github/basic-writing-and-formatting-syntax

We don't need a long report—just a commented text list, like this:

## Co response:
1. city, link to evidence
2. city, link
3. city, link
etc

## Alternative response:
1. city, link
etc

## Cities studied:
1. city, link
etc

Feel free to divide up the work as you see fit!

While researching I found a few articles we could benefit from!
Article 1:
-Includes recommendations with mainly considering inclusion of public health workers and researchers. https://ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/full/10.2105/AJPH.2022.307107#_i5
Article 2:
-Focuses more on police training and the competence of police training and ability to implement it on the job. How many times do we learn something in the classroom but if training is not implemented into real life examples then it is hard to apply on the job. This article focuses on police training and the science behind it. I found this interesting as power dynamics are part of human behavior but pose risk in police-civilian interactions. Article adresses a lot of cool things we could include in a paper. https://academic.oup.com/policing/article/15/2/927/6027836

Hey @Busem30 @caram7 @riyala22 I've created a table in our notes that may be helpful in organizing the information you find on the various studies, cities you research. You can view that here:

5 cities and co-response models.pdf

Here is the PDF I made of information about the different response models of the 5 cities I sent. Let me know if I should send it to the Slack chat.
