Description of the problem

as described in #331, synSetAnnotations has been removed. Our nfportalutils package (github.com/nf-osi/nfportalutils) depends on this function in several places. Can it be added back, or can a workaround be suggested?

(Note - rolling back to synapser 1.3.0 is one workaround - but we want to make sure we don't fall behind on other changes, so I would prefer to be able to use >2.0.0)
