Images failing to load.

When trying to mess around with signpic with a friend I encountered an error where the picture would not load. I decided to see if I could replicate it in a single player world with only signpicture installed and got the same result. I changed permissions for the signpic folder to see if it just couldn't access it but that didn't fix the problem either. I decided to see if it was linux causing the issue and ran minecraft on a windows partition and the images would load. I would prefer immensely to not have to switch operating systems just to get images to load.
