Pain Point

Fruit trees have leaves that "grow" like crops and require warm temperature to get fruit. They also seem to take a long time to "grow"? This doesn't work very well because
1: no other mods have fruit that works like that. Even Forestry, which has "leaves" that ripen to drop fruit, has visible fruit on the tree leaves. The fruiting leaves in TWR look exactly like regular leaves, giving no indication they need to ripen outside of the tooltip, which means players like me will be very confused as to why they aren't getting fruit.
2: trees grow at various heights, especially coconut trees which can grow like 20 blocks up, far beyond a T1 generator's range. I assume this means they will never grow fruit, so you have to repeatedly grow coconut trees until they wind up at the right height and the right leaning direction so that the leaves are near the generator. Horrible!
3: while you wait for the fruiting leaves to ripen, you can't chop down that tree. That means you risk falling behind on charcoal production, which is important because the generator (presumably) has to be running to ripen leaves.

Suggestion

I see two possibilities here:

  1. Make fruit drop like trees in vanilla minecraft. Once the tree is grown, leaves should already be "ripe" and have a chance to drop fruit. The sapling grew from warmth so this doesn't bypass any heat requirements at all, aside from being able to get some fruit from trees in the cold wilderness. If you really must check heat, you could check to see if the player is warm while they're cutting the tree down-- that would prevent getting fruit from trees in the wild.
  2. Reduce temperature requirements for leaves to ripen, and make them ripen extremely quickly so that you can chop down trees soon after growing them and still get fruit. So long as the temperature requirement is high enough that trees in the cold wilderness won't be warm enough, it'll work fine.
