Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
no

Describe the solution you'd like
TigerVNC is great. But the looks of the App is really 1990's. I would like to have a cleaner more modern look. It is possible - also RealVNC managed this.

Describe alternatives you've considered
none, because TigerVNC is great.

Additional context
None.

I agree, it feels old. A refresh would be very nice.

Do you have concrete examples of problematic areas? Have you had a look at the suggestions in #1410?

concrete examples of problematic areas

What sent me searching for open issues regarding the fit & polish of this app under Mac OS within 5 minutes of trying it for the first time is issues with the look & feel. Namely (after closer to half an hour of poking about),

  1. Retina support isn't properly implemented.
    1. When clicking in the menu bar, somehow the menu options are fuzzy. I thought those were drawn with the OS text rendering. I was wrong.
    2. Viewing a 1080p signal full screen on a 4K monitor should be crisp pixel doubling
    3. The title bar fonts are fuzzy. Again, rendering issue.
  2. In general, it does not use native UI widgets and looks out-of-place.
  3. Is there not a way to scale the virtual screen so that it can be shrunk without showing scrollbars?
  4. Both the host and client cursors overlap. It's especially jarring when the host OS displays a text cursor while the client OS keep the default arrow.

Most of those sound like high DPI issues. Please see #369 for that particular problem area.
