Hello,
is it planned or maybe already possible to create subgroups?

This is a great idea, especially now that we have the ability to set up web relay only groups. If I could create a sub group under and existing group for the web relay devices that would solve my dilemma with how to best organize the web relay only devices and to associate them with an existing customer (I use a group for each of my customers).

I take it the original request was for sub-groups of devices? Not users?

I believe so yes, for example

site 1 -> front office -> comp1,comp2

site 1 -> back office -> comp3, comp4

I probably should do this, but it's going to be a massive amount of work. Not looking forward to it.

SC just let's you set multiple database fields...then just sort the gui based on standard sort parameters. Those that want group/subgroups etc learn the rules, and label appropriately. It's a #WinWin

Yeah, SC handles this well, and that might be easier to implement :)

What is SC?

In MeshCentral you can tag devices with one or more tags:

When you can sort by tags on the device view:

The subgroups would make life easier for us, since we currently look after around 50 locations with a wide variety of devices. From the firewall to switches to Windows servers and clients. Since these are schools, we are talking about around 100 servers and around 1000 client PCs.
In addition, schools could then differentiate between student and teacher PCs, for example.

I thought we could set it up similar to a folder structure.

Site A -> Server -> Server A
Server B
Server C
Clients -> Classroom A ->
PC1
PC2
Classroom B ->
PC1
PC2

What do you think, when or if you could implement subgroups?
