I have installed this firmware and now when I power it up, sometimes the clock display will not start going through the minutes. I go to the seconds and then the seconds start and it seems to run as normal.
Then at times again the display will get locked to a position. Either the clock numbers freeze (but the colon continues to flash. Or it just gets stuck on the temperature.
I do like this firmware as I can dim the display right down and also turn off the day and date display, but it seem unusable on my version due to the freezing issue.

Do you compile under Windows?
I have a similar issue
So I was go to Linux an compile it and it's working why ever. May be Windows made something wrong not sure.
My problem in the end was my build. I never cleaned the circuit board well enough after soldering and the flux must have allowed stray signals to go where they should not have. Once properly cleaned it has been running perfectly for many months.
