Unable to get golang installed via asdf plugin

Hey folks!
Need some help using this plugin. I will preface this with the fact that I have successfully been able to use asdf to install other plugins, but I have not been able to install this plugin. Also of note, I do not have go installed via brew or other methods.
Here is what I'm seeing:

 ~ asdf plugin add golang https://github.com/asdf-community/asdf-golang.git
➜  ~ asdf install golang 1.20.7
Platform 'darwin' supported!
➜  ~ asdf global golang 1.20.7
version 1.20.7 is not installed for golang

It does not appear that the install is actually working, and I've triple checked my .zshrc file. Any suggestions or ideas as to why this plugin would not be working?
