Upgrade Prod Metabase instance to v0.50.31.4 version and reporting RDS to 16.3

Acceptance Criteria

• Upgrade of Reporting DB RDS from 12.19 to 16.3 postgres server version
• Upgrade our current prod Metabase to v0.50.31.4 version (https://github.com/metabase/metabase/releases/tag/v0.50.31.4)
• Configure the system to use new features
• Fixing issue with existing reports after upgradation
  1. Analyse report.
  2. If report broken then Categorise into type of issues .
  3. Document recovery steps for each issue.
  4. Apply fix in all other broken reports.

Validation

• All existing reports should not be broken, make changes in reports via sql commands to fix large scale modifications required

Tech details

• Upgrade of Reporting DB RDS from 12.19 to 16.3 postgres server version using replica RDS
• Create a replica of prod metabase ec2 instance
• Upgrade to latest v0.50.31.4 version
• Use Docker Containers
• Configure the system to use all new features
• Fixing issue with existing reports after upgradation
• Compare the old and new systems and give it out for UAT to implementation team
• After successful UAT, perform the similar upgradation on Prod metabase
• Bring down the temp infra which is no longer required (Routes and EC2 instances)

Post upgradation

• Self Service Reports : Add a switch to enable metabase setup , button to check sync status and refresh tables [DMP 2024] avni-webapp#1337 => Generate METABASE_API_KEY, with Administrators group access on Prod metabase and specify the same in prod-secret
