Hello, I would like to suggest adding ALKATIP Basma Tom font to Wudooh extention.
ALKATIP Basma Tom is a font very widely used in Xinjiang, China. It is used to display Arabic script for Uyghur, Kazakh and Kyrgyz.
The three scripts have approximately 12 million users inside and outside of China, which excludes Kazakh and Kyrgyz speakers who use Cyrillic script (such as in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan).
The reason why this font is necessary is because other Arabic fonts do not properly render the intended shape of many alphabets, because the three language use orthography and spelling which are significantly different from Arabic, Persian, Urdu etc., and some of their characters is not supported by many major Arabic fonts. (for example ۆ ۈ ۉ ۅ ڭ ڭ)
Many thanks for your suggestion and contribution!
I am very grateful for this help, I have always needed someone to help me with Uyghur as I know it uses unique characters unused in any other language / script such as the characters you showed.
I will look into this and add it in the next update.
In the meantime, I will remind you of the newly added custom fonts feature where you can add your own fonts to the extension. In addition to this, there are a few fonts (the Google made ones such as Droid Naskh and Noto Naskh) that claim to be fully Arabic compatible and do indeed render these characters correctly as far as I can tell. I have been around Uyghur parts of the internet and have been able to read everything clearly using Droid Naskh.
But I do understand that a different font is desirable (for its rendering and also appearance) and will be more optimal for a language rather than relying on a catch all font that aims to please everyone.
I have taken note of this.
Many thanks for your contribution and suggestion
Peace to you 😊
