Open overlay when open compact display mode

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
When I press the "open navigation" button on the compact mode, it switches to the "open" display mode. When it switches, a lot of "overflow errors" are thrown.

Describe the solution you'd like
Open an overlay when the button is pressed, just like in the minimal display mode.
