What is the idea?
As discussed several times with the NumFOCUS fiscal sponsor, having conda.org set up with Google Workspaces would enable the conda steering council, for example, to set up distribution lists for the various subteams, not just the lists.conda.org announce and steering council list.
Why is this needed?
Setting up conda.org with Google Workspaces would provide the conda organization with the ability to expand serving its community and fulfill the governance policy better, and it's a perk that NumFOCUS provides to all fiscally sponsored projects. At the moment, this is done with individual contributors' private accounts, which isn't ideal for sustaining the organization's function.
What should happen?
follow NumFOCUS' guide to set up conda.org DNS records for Google Workspaces and work with the domain holder (Anaconda Inc) to achieve it
announce the availability of this new capability to the steering council
make a call for feedback on what features should be enabled/configured (to be collected here as subtasks)
