Black on black with more contrast and inverted #65
Comments
Firefox 89.0.2 on a computer. This actually does not happen on Chromium, I just checked. I once did some CSS stuff to get a black (instead of white) background before pages load and I'm also using this: https://github.com/black7375/Firefox-UI-Fix/tree/photon-style |
Very weird, I'll try to reproduce it from my end on Firefox (which I use daily on all my computers). Black on black could only happen if you have light mode and maybe an extension that provides black backgrounds or something. The website should automatically detect if your system is configured to prefer dark mode and will switch to the dark combination (dark backgound and white text). I cannot think of any combination that could possibly give black on black, but I'll test more and get back to you ASAP |
It's the opposite actually, the "Dark reader" extension fixes that issue. |
Firefox 89.0.2: tbmfw-65.mp4I cannot reproduce your issue unfortunately :( |
Then it's probably related to the changes I made to my Firefox instance. Here is my folder /home/fabian/.mozilla/firefox/b78fzijh.default-release-1581355615032/chrome : |
Steps to reproduce this issue on Firefox

I guess the right solution would be to manually specifying the default background color instead of assuming it's white. I'm just puzzled on whether changing the default stylesheet of the web browser to use #000 as a background color is a common choice, and how it does behave on websites like Google 🤔 |
If I see an option for background colours anywhere, I will always set it to black. |
I guess so.
I have no idea, but initially I changed it because it helped reduce white flashes when loading websites. It also looks really cool on some older and (really) simple websites when they use colors defined in browser settings.
Most pages work without any problems, but in case of problems, changing background/text color using the Stylus extension is usually sufficient (Dark Reader in Dynamic mode also works). |
Result: Black text on black background.
