After debugging an issue that was caused by the user not being on the latest version of json-to-mse, it seems that a check for whether the repo head matches github master would be useful, at least in --verbose mode.

This is now implemented on the riir branch, but updating via cargo install takes quite some time. It would be nice if it could just download the latest executable from the releases page if it exists for the current target.
