Open on mousedown instead of click

Just a thought - native select boxes (at least on Mac, and probably windows too I think) open on mousedown, whereas Chosen select boxes open on click (thus on mouseup)

I had a quick go at modifying the source to use a mousedown event instead of a click event, but it didn't wash so well - any ideas?
