Why unicode whitespaces in hls codebase?

There are so many unicode whitespaces   (U+00a0) in the codebase... Not sure what they are intended. Could we just replace them all with ordinary whitespaces?

Probably yes. Unless they're in tests, in which case maybe they're deliberate?
