Steps to reproduce

  1. Visit a webpage via via (see what I did there?), like: https://via.hypothes.is/https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/12/us/college-admissions-cheating-scandal.html
  2. Notice the text "WB_wombat_top" inserted inline with other text as in the screenshot below.

College_Admissions_Scandal__Actresses__Business_Leaders_and_Other_Wealthy_Parents_Charged_-_The_New_York_Times

Expected behavior

Via should not add additional text to a webpage.

  • H. Client: 1.139.0
  • User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_14_3) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/72.0.3626.121 Safari/537.36

We are working on a new implementation of the Via proxy service (known as via3 internally). This issue will likely be resolved as part of that.
