  1. gotosleep 10
  2. Send mouse to a hot-corner programmed to put the display to sleep
  3. After 10 seconds, move the mouse and the computer will not have gone to sleep
  4. "Good Night!" message shown in Terminal to indicate sleep command was fired

If I init the script and go to my hot corner I can't wake my display until I hit the power button. Is this the same thing you were seeing?

That sounds like expected behavior if the sleep time fired while your display was asleep. But if you set a sleep time far in advance, set your mouse to the display sleep hot-corner, and couldn't resume display, that would be iffy.
