Is this a BUG REPORT or FEATURE REQUEST?:

/kind feature

What happened:

Currently, gofsutils is used, but it has several limitations :

  • -m0 is not passed : 5% is reserved for root : this is lost space!
  • no way to pass format parameters, like aws-ebs-csi-driver does: blocksize, inodesize, bytesperinode, numberofinodes,ext4bigalloc, ext4clustersize, ...

You can compare gofsutils implementation with k8s mount-utils.

What you expected to happen:

  • -m0 passed to mkfs.ext4
  • other parameters available

How to reproduce it (as minimally and precisely as possible):

Create a PVC, use dumpe2fs on the block.

Anything else we need to know?:

Environment:

  • csi-vsphere version:
  • vsphere-cloud-controller-manager version:
  • Kubernetes version:
  • vSphere version:
  • OS (e.g. from /etc/os-release):
  • Kernel (e.g. uname -a):
  • Install tools:

The Kubernetes project currently lacks enough contributors to adequately respond to all issues.

This bot triages un-triaged issues according to the following rules:

  • After 90d of inactivity, lifecycle/stale is applied
  • After 30d of inactivity since lifecycle/stale was applied, lifecycle/rotten is applied
  • After 30d of inactivity since lifecycle/rotten was applied, the issue is closed

You can:

  • Mark this issue as fresh with /remove-lifecycle stale
  • Close this issue with /close
