The astrom_precision function allows one to compute the random component of the astrometric error given seeing FWHM and the object's SNR.

It would be good to better document its inputs and outputs:

  • The FWHM is the seeing, but there are multiple definitions of seeing (geometric and effective) -- which one should be used here?
  • Is the output the predicted precision per coordinate, or total?
  • It would be good to cite where this comes from.
