I use the german keyboard layout!

Steps to reproduce

Select hotkey field and press the following hotkeys:

  • esc
  • win + v (example)

Expected behavior

The hotkey will be set.

Actual behavior

Hotkey Result
esc shortcut input field shows "undefined"
win+v shortcut action gets triggered but the shortcut input field doesn't change

Screenshots

The example here is for PowerToys Run, but the issue exists on other settings page.

@jyuwono This is not only on PowerToys Run settings. This happens also on other settings pages. For example FancyZoones.

Please correct label and title of the issue.

@htcfreek apologies, I misunderstood the issue. I've changed it back to Settings issue. Thanks for filing the feedback!

Any known workarounds? My hotkey field says undefined and I cannot change it.

You can change it by not using esc or win key. For example Ctrl + R.

@crutkas
I think we should fix this in the hotfix too. Thoughts?

This is being tracked for in #2325 which is too large for a hotfix

This is not a launcher problem. I have this problem on all key input fields.

  • If the shortcut is mapped by Windows OS the the command owned by windows will be executed and the shortcut not changes.
  • If I enter a shortcut which includes ESC I am not able to enter it and the field become "undefined".

This is being tracked by #2325 which is the larger work item.
