Ambilight works only without hw acceleration (surface) - videos stuttering!

First at all thanks @mpolednik for the awesome work!

I'm using the script kodi.hue.ambilight on the raspberry pi and the fire tv stick 4k (both fresh install).
The addon doesn't work - it works only by deactivating hardware acceleration (surface)

But by deactivating the videos begins to stutter!

Any news on this? Ambilight would be really great, but in this state the plugin doesn't make any sense...

unfortunately I think that workaround works only if you're using SPMC, which is a modified version of Kodi :(
