Error: Key is not ASCII encoded. #659

Ran these commands:
gpg --export -a KEY_ID > gpg_key.pub
gpg --export-secret-keys -a KEY_ID > gpg_key

Tried importing via iTunes and through the Load From File options and keep getting this error. Is there something that I'm missing?
