It works, but I'd like to explore the possibility of making it a little smoother:

Allow web application client secrets instead of or in addition to installed app client secrets.
Investigate providing redirect_uri endpoint via the Tarbell library itself.
If providing redirect_uri in Tarbell hits snags, investigate resolving option parsing mismatch between google-api-python-client (gflags) and fabric (optparse).
