Display animated gif #202

In GitLab by @azul on Jul 26, 2021, 10:29 Hello @Hanskes, Thanks a lot for your feedback. I'm looking into animated gif support in the text app and collectives. I hope we will be able to ship this in the next versions. Inserting html code directly sounds like a lot of complexity to handle - both in terms of the code and the user interface. I don't see any way how we could do that with our current approach. For draw.io diagrams i suggest exporting them to svg, png or jpeg and then adding the resulting image to the page. I'll rename this issue and focus on the gif part for now. If you'd like to continue discussing the draw.io aspect please open another issue for it. |
In GitLab by @Hanskes on Jul 26, 2021, 13:48 Thanks Azul! The disadvantage of a static image is that the tooltips of the diagram do not work. Would it be possible to ad a link to an image, so that by clicking on the image you are redirected to another page or document? |
In GitLab by @azul on Jul 30, 2021, 16:07 nextcloud/text#1800 is a first attempt at rendering animated gifs in the editor. |
In GitLab by @azul on Jul 30, 2021, 17:03 !354 Fixes the display of animated gifs in the page read only view. For the editor we'll have to wait for the next text release and nextcloud/text#1800. |

We use a wordpress site next to our nextcloud for the company documentation. We would love to use collective for this purpose. However, there are a few things that we use a lot that I don't think work (yet) within collective. For example, we often use animated gif files to make certain actions transparent and we use interactive diagrams from draw.oi to show processes, which are placed as html fields in articles.
In other words, is it or will it be possible in the near future to insert html blocks and watch animated gif files directly?
