With version 7.6 of BetterTTV, we've transitioned our Chrome extensions to Manifest v3. This change was required as of June to publish updates in the Chrome Web Store.
As a result, many folks on old versions of Chrome will no longer be able to update BetterTTV further. The minimum required version of Chromium needed to run BetterTTV is 111. You will need to upgrade to the latest version of Chrome to receive updates.
If you use Windows 7, 8, or 8.1, your version of Chrome is not compatible. The most "official" fix to your issue is swapping to Firefox ESR, which is still currently receiving updates. If you're open to something more artisanal, there's a fork of Chrome called Supermium and a fork of Firefox called r3dfox which seems to keep up to date versions running on old operating systems.
If you wish to remain on these outdated versions of Chrome (which we would recommend against, because there are 0-days in the old versions of Chrome), you can swap to the user script version of BetterTTV:
Install BetterTTV's User Script. You'll need to swap the browser listed to "Other" to download it.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this transition. Ultimately old versions cannot be supported forever, and Google has taken steps to send them to the pasture starting this June.
