I tried searching for HPO on BioPortal and was puzzled not to find it. It turns out it’s listed as HP (https://bioportal.bioontology.org/ontologies/HP). HP is the term prefix, but HPO is definitely referred to (widely) as HPO. I asked BioPortal if there was a way to add that as a synonym for the ontology name (and noted that, more generally, a way to add synonyms for the ontology name or identifier would be a nice feature).

Jennifer (the lead BioPortal developer) replied (in the BioPortal issue:

The HPO acronym is already taken in BioPortal by the "Hypertension-Ontology" (https://bioportal.bioontology.org/ontologies/HPO).
I poked around the MOD standard website (https://github.com/FAIR-IMPACT/MOD), but I don't see any kind of metadata property that's used for housing synonyms for ontology names or identifiers. That said, I couldn't find any human readable documentation of the MOD standard, so it's possible I'm missing something.

I then went to look for HPO on the OBO Foundry, and discovered that it is also "hp" there, and is not findable if you search for HPO (see screenshot).

If I were on the HPO team, I would be bummed that users can't find HPO (by that name) in the two most popular biomedical ontology resources. I don't know what courses of action are available to you to address this.

[Note that this is not a bug, nor is it a typo, but I can't change those labels.]
