Open edX Site Survey

Create a census survey to send throughout the community to gather information about current deployments of the Open edX platform.

In the Marketplace provider agreement we sketched out the following data the providers would disclose as their agreements allowed them:

Usage Metrics. For Open edX platform instances that Company hosts or for which Company manages the
hosting (“Hosted Instances”), Company shall provide edX with the following information upon edX’s
reasonable request (not to exceed twice annually) and subject to any contractual obligations to customers that
prohibit disclosure:
i. the total number of Hosted Instances at the time of the report;
ii. anonymized usage metrics for such Hosted Instances, as agreed upon by the Parties but including,
without limitation, the aggregate number of courses, learners, enrollments, and certificates issued
across all Hosted Instances (“Usage Metrics”);
iii. to the extent permitted by the applicable customer, the Usage Metrics on a per-Hosted
Instance basis; and
iv. the total number of Hosted Instances that prohibit Company’s disclosure of Usage
Metrics to edX.
Customer shall cooperate with edX on identifying and implementing an automated and continuous method
for reporting Usage Metrics to edX and will use commercially reasonable efforts to obtain each customer’s
consent to disclose Usage Metrics to edX.

An Open edX survey is currently being undertaken:

1. First, we will be executing a manual form-based survey in order to collect anonymized baseline impact data. That work is being tracked here: Execute a form-based survey for first pass at an impact report axim-engineering#107 and we aim to present the results at the Conference in April.
