Support for managing container registries through the use of the containers-registries.conf based Container Registry Configuration formatted file which provides additional capabilities and features over the traditional Docker configuration file.

The following benefits are achieved through the adoption of the containers-registry.conf configuration format:

  • Repository Remapping and Mirroring
  • Short Name Aliasing
  • Authentication / Credential store management

Many of these features are desired in enterprise organizations where the interest in the management of OCI based content is increasing
