.bib generation for any website

As zbib.org can generate misc citations for websites, could this functionality be built into CiteDrive?

Example

With this website for reference: https://online.stat.psu.edu/stat500/lesson/3/3.1

Zotero generates:

@misc{psu_stat500,
  title         = {3.1 - {Random} {Variables} {\textbar} {STAT} 500},
  url           = {https://online.stat.psu.edu/stat500/lesson/3/3.1},
  urldate       = {2024-04-29},
  language      = {en}
}

This feature would be appreciated! I have no idea of the difficulty on implementing something like this, so no pressure.

This would also be highly useful for citing Wikipedia pages.

You can use our browser extension, available in the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Browser Add-ons, and Microsoft Edge/Add-ons. It should work as follows:

bookmark-citation-citedrive.mov

It works best with DOI publications, as sites like Wikipedia trigger a fallback.

Also, I would copy the BibTeX code, i.e., cite directly from Wikipedia, to get all the correct information.

Or do you mean something without a browser extension and directly in the application?

Ah - I wasn't aware of the browser extension. This is perfect!

Perhaps a minor suggestion, if a user pastes in a URL here:

The same citation should be generated.
