Drivebase - driving backwards

using drivebase straigh with gyro, we have very consistent results drivign forward, the robot drives nicely straight. However, drivign backwards, the robot keeps steering sideways.

ANy ideas what the reason could be and how to overcome this?

Have you ruled out a mechanical cause, such as more friction to one side when going sideways?

Does it steer sideways by a lot? Or just a bit? Does it get better when driving at low speed? At high speed, the motors don't always have enough room to overcompensate since they are already going at maximum speed.

Would the parallel thread (in the multitask) be able to change the speed, for example wait 2 secs and then slow down? Or once the drive straigh is started, the speed stays the same?

Yes, you could just change the seed and start a new drive command after two seconds.

Motor and drive commands always gracefully interrupt each other: the new command takes over and any ongoing activity of that motor is stopped. This is always the case whether or not you use multitasking.

So you can effectively use it to change the drive speed after a few seconds indeed. This is where the multitask block shines, and is much more flexible than the wait=False argument, which is why we left that out in blocks.

There will be in the not too distant future. We have recently added that option to the Python code and plan to support it in blocks in the long run as well.

Dear Lauren: Would using the new reset block with 0 for distance and current angle for the angle reset accomplish basically a reset of the distance only? Or woudl I need to reset to imu.heading?
