I have confirmed this bug exists on the latest version of pandas.
I have confirmed this bug exists on the main branch of pandas.
In [4]: pd.DataFrame({'a': [[1, 2], [3, 4]]}, dtype=pd.ArrowDtype(pa.list_(pa.int64()))).explode('a') Out[4]: a 0 1 0 2 1 3 1 4 In [5]: pd.DataFrame({'a': [[1, 2], [3, 4]]}, dtype=pd.ArrowDtype(pa.large_list(pa.int64()))).explode('a') Out[5]: a 0 [1 2] 1 [3 4]
For list_, it explodes correctly, but for large_list, it's a no-op
