In the menu toolbar there are two buttons that open search dock widget:

  • magnifying glass
  • map

These both open the same dock widget - but just change the tab that is selected. In my opinion we should just have the one magnifying glass icon, and the widget should "remember" the last selected tab.

Would this be possible?

Perfectly possible. Actually easier than the current mechanism :-)

We will need confirmation from the design team, to ensure that this is also the desired behaviour for arcgis, in order to have both plugins behave in a similar manner

@volaya or @astrong19 who can I reach out to from the design team?

@john-dupuy Have you gotten any feedback on this? Would be a good idea to do this. Also, something I myself don't like about the 'Planet' tool bar is the width of the toolbar:

There is a huge gap between the buttons on the left and the 'Planet' title, and then another huge gap between the 'Planet' title and the buttons to the right. Is this maybe intensional?
I can also have a look at this, but currently its assigned to Volaya.

I have not yet gotten any feedback here - will see if I can get any traction on this again. As for Volaya, he is no longer working on this project so I will un-assign him from any assigned issues.
